Marine Protected Areas: case studies

This case study focuses on the approach for the designation of MPAs in Belgium. It highlights two key factors for success in the implementation process: proper consultation among stakeholders and the help of a charismatic and politically well-connected person to drive the process in addition to a change of the underlying legal framework.
