This project is being carried out for the Agriculture and Rural Development Directorate-General of the European Commission and aims to provide the Commission and Member States with an indicator for evaluating the rural development programmes of all Member States to assess progress towards HNV objectives and targets. A major output of this study will be the production of a guidance document setting out the approach to identifying HNV farmland, features, farming systems, forestry and traditional agricultural landscapes. The document will also discuss the relevance and effectiveness of rural development measures in achieving HNV objectives.
