Keti Medarova-BergstromKeti Medarova-Bergstrom

Policy analyst. Special subjects: cohesion policy, environmental governance and EU institutional developments
Keti joined IEEP in November 2009. Prior to this she was leading the programme for sustainable EU funds at CEE Bankwatch Network and Friends of the Earth Europe and was working on research projects for the UNDP and EC FP6 within the Centre for Environmental Policy and Law in Budapest. At IEEP, Keti is involved in projects concerning cohesion policy, the EU budget review and the Institute’s EU advisory services. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Central European University, where she also obtained her Masters degree in environmental sciences and policy.

Sandra MootoosamySandra Mootoosamy

Senior Administrative Officer, Brussels office.
Sandra joined IEEP in January 2005 and provides administrative assistance to the Brussels office on a part-time basis. She is fluent in both French and English and is an experienced Office Manager and PA.

Marc PallemaertsMarc Pallemaerts

Senior Fellow and Head of Environmental Governance Research Team Special subjects: environmental law and governance, public participation, climate change, chemicals and the EU's role in global environmental policy.
Marc joined IEEP to head the Environmental Governance team in December 2005, and is based in IEEP's Brussels office. An international lawyer and political scientist by training, he has extensive experience in academic research and teaching as well as in policy work. He has been a policy adviser to the Flemish Regional Environment Minister, to the Belgian Federal State Secretary for the Environment, and was Deputy Chef de Cabinet to the Federal State Secretary for Energy and Sustainable Development. During the Belgian Presidency of the EU in 2001, he chaired the EU Council working party responsible for the climate change negotiations and acted as lead negotiator for the Presidency at COP6bis (Bonn) and COP7 (Marrakech). From 2003 to 2005, he was chairman the Meeting of the Parties to the Aarhus Convention. Before joining IEEP, Marc was a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for European Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

Kathryn ParrottKathryn Parrott

Personal Assistant to Director
Kathryn joined IEEP in July 2006 and supports the Director by working on all aspects of his diary management. She has an accountancy background and also works closely with the Head of Finance contributing to the financial reporting of projects with DG Research and other DGs of the the European Commission. She also coordinates the institute's HR activities including training and recruitment.

Pernille SchiellerupPernille Schiellerup

Senior Policy Analyst and Head of Climate Change Programme. Special subjects: climate change mitigation in the built environment; dynamics of energy consumption; stakeholder engagement and environmental governance; social forestry.
Pernille joined IEEP in August 2009 to lead the Climate Change Programme. She previously worked at the London Climate Change Agency, the Environmental Change Institute at University of Oxford, and University College London. She has extensive experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies for climate change mitigation in the built environment at city, national and EU levels. Pernille also has an interest in environmental governance both theoretically and practically. She has worked on institutional change and environmental governance in forestry, in particular in relation to "social forestry." She also has more practical experience of environmental governance through the planning and implementation of multi-stakeholder stakeholder processes in relation to climate change mitigation. She is interested in the challenges and opportunities to existing practices and identities implied in the transition to low carbon societies.
